Exchange 2003 - Error 1083 the RTF
Hi, I've seen 2 error reports in the application log Error 1083: MsExchangeIS Mailbox There is curruption in the rich text format. Data: UsersNA From:Phil Grant To Kevin Layman I have contact the users mentioned in the error message and asked them to delete the email[s] in question. Is this enough? We will be rebooting the server in one week and I am concerned that the stated database will not mount. Any advise? Fizzmo

Hi, The error is logged because the RTF body of the message is corrupt. I’d recommend to schedule a downtime and run “isinteg -s <servername> -fix -test alltests” on the mailbox database where those users are homed,or you can try to move these mailbox to another maibox store. Before you try to correct the issue, please check event log to see any other related error event and post the detail information here. Besides, have you run ExBPA to have health scan? Is there any error logged in the report? Please post the detail information here. Description of the Isinteg utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/182081 Regards. Shafaquat Ali. Hi All, Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately one data is 200GB and will take 3 days of down time [not an option] My main concern is upon a reboot will the server mount all the databases? I suspect that our AV program is causing this as each friday a scan occours on all users Outlook [and related setting OST,PSt et al..] this is causing a slow up, as well as scanning the OST and manipulating items it does not like. Any advise regarding the databases being able to remount would be appriciated. Fizzmo

Thanks for the reply. We have seen no re-occourance of this error to date. suspect the AV scan that happened at the same time is the root cause. I will try to move some mailboxes, however could be difficult due the the number of users mentioned in the event error. Does this kind of event have an affect on remounting databases? Thanks

Per my knowledge, the following situation will cause the failed mount of database: · Hardware disk issue · Database corruption (Outage) · Missing log after the checkpointJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
