Exchange 2003-2007 co-existence - NLB CAS/HUB - default routing group connector
I Have a 2003 Exchange cluster with a 2003 Exchange Front-end server which is in prod right now. Recently, I have brought up a 2007 CCR cluster and 2007 CAS/HUB NLB. When installing the first CAS/HUB server, I am of course asked to specify a 2003 Exchange Front-end. Thats fine. No issues. When I look in the routing group that was created by default, I only see the first CAS/HUB server namespecified. As, this is NLB, how do I add the second CAS/HUB server to the default RGC? Do I need to? Do I create another RGC for the second CAS/HUB server to the 2003 Front-End?Thank you for any one who can clear this up.

No, you don't have to create a new routing group or connector. Just add the second Exchange 2007server to the routing group connector withSet-RoutingGroupConnectorcmdlet.Get Current settings:Get-RoutingGroupConnector | FL Identity, SourceTransportServers, TargetTransportServers -autosize -wrapUpdate the connectors:Set-RoutingGroupConnector "Server 2007 Server 2003" -SourceTransportServers Server2007-1,Server2007-2 -TargetTransportServers Server2003Set-RoutingGroupConnector "Server 2003 Server 2007" -SourceTransportServers Server2003 -TargetTransportServers Server2007-1,Server2007-2.Note: Don't forgot to add both Exchange 2007/2003 servers in cmdlet because it doesn't add but replaces the previous values.Get the settings after updation:Get-RoutingGroupConnector | FL Identity, SourceTransportServers, TargetTransportServers -autosize -wrapLoad balancing will be achieved automatically in a round robin manner by distributing connections across the Exchange 2007 servers.Fault tolerance will be achieved automatically by failing over to the next alternative Exchange 2007 server when any attempt to connect first Exchange 2007 is failed.Reference:Load Balancing and Fault Tolerance for Transport Servershttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb267003.aspxAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
