Exchange 2003, Help! Setup failed while installing sub-component microsoft exchange server-level objects
I hope someone can help steer me in the right direction! I'm working in a Server2003 AD forest, which currently has 4 child domains each running an Exchange 2003 server. I am trying to install an Exchange 2003 server into another child domain, but I keep getting the following error: "setup failed while installing sub-component microsoft exchange server-level objects with error code 0xc0070035" I haverun Domainprep in the domain - apparently without any issues. I'm using an account with Enterprise Admins rights. I've found a handful of posts that suggest a DNS error, but DCDIAG and NETDIA both appear retty clear. I've also been onto each of the other domain controllers and postoffices in the forest and can confirm that all can resolve each other - so I dont think DNS is at fault?! Can someone please tell me what else could be causing this? Many thank in advance Paul

Sorry - I forgot to mention that I've also checked that the Remote Registry service is running! Regards, Paul.

More info - which makes the issue even more frustrating... I'vedone an orgprepcheck which suggests the Domainprep was successful... I've also used adsiedit to check that the versionlevel object indicatesa successful domainprep has happened. Regards, Paul

Clarify: Exchange 2003 cant be installed successfully on the new child domain, right? You said that DNS has been checked, so you have seen KB 284244? You cant eliminate this cause even if you can ping through all other hosts, servers Notes: The resolution in the KB cant take effect immediately, you need to run ipconfig /flushdns and /registerdns once Can you post the error info in your setup log for further analysis? And search related error logs to narrow the cause from application log
