Exchange 2000 Administration from a 2003 DC
Hi, Recently we upgraded our Domain Controller from Windows 2000 to Win 2003.All went well, but the problem we are facing is we cant perform any exchange tasks from our DC's Active Directory Users and Computers. We are using a Exchange 2000 server. To resolve this i installed the Exchange 2003 System Manager on the DC and i get the exchange tasks, but i am unable to create a mailbox for the Users. When i try to create a mailbox for the user then the mailbox store is empty.

Did you send any mail to new user? Mailbox won't be created on store unless new user send/receive at least a mail.Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

There are known issues with upgrading DCs without first uninstalling administrative tools. Can you completley remove all admin packs and exchange management tools, reboot and put them back? Also, can you add mailboxes from other computers with the tools installed - such as the exchange servers themselves? Per my knowledge, there are three options for such situation: a. Use exchange 2003s ESM, however, this would require running Exchange 2003 forestprep b. Use another 2000 workstation to administer the mailboxes c. Use the ADUC which is installed on the Exchange 2000 server
