Exchange 2000 - Mail store running low - Need suggestion
I have inherited an exchange server that is running out of disk space on the volume where the information store is located. Do to hardware restraints I plan on doing the following. Performing a cold back up, installing new disks (old 72gb's will be pulled out), creating a new array, and restoring the mail store to new array. I was wondering if there are any gotcha's I should be aware of as I plan this out. Thanks

Hi, Just wondering what you mean by backup? Basically, I would not do a backup in the traditional online sense as part of the migration anyway. First I would take a precautionary backup in the normal way. Then stop Exchange. Copy the entire directory structure of the 72GB disks to another location. Next put in the new bigger disks and format as before with the same drive letter. Then copy the info back and start Exchange. It should pickup where it left off but now with way more space. Cheers Nathan
