Exchange 07 mbx server keeps logging event 9660 for mailboxed that finished moving
We are in the process of migrating users from exchange 2003 sp2 to exchange 2007 sp1 rollup 3. Evenviewer reports MSExchangeIS event ID 9660 for mailboxes that had alreday been moved weeks ago: UserFirstnameLastname (/o=Synopsys/ou=US01 Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=xxxx) failed to log on because their mailbox is in the process of being moved. As I mentioned the mailbox for the user moved successfully three weeks ago but Exchange keeps reporting that the mailbox is being moved. How do I troubleshoot this problem? what are the consequences of this event? Users have not complained but I am afraid that some problems are just waiting to leap out of the shadows.

I can't say that I've seen that personally but two things I'd try are: 1. Has the information store service been restarted since the user was moved? If not, I'd try this. 2. Apply update rollup 4 to the E2K7 server.

Hi Neil, Yes the MSExchangeIS was restarted after the mailbox was moved. The restart was scheduled due to configuration activies in the mailbox server. Rollup 4, have to wait on that update because a change like this has to be approved by a committee. What bothers me isthat only a couple of mailboxes out of 400 moved so far, are the only ones having issues. This seem to indicate that the problem resides only in some sort of flag not turned off in those mailboxes that indicate move has finished.

Can you move them to another database or server (and then back again if required)? That might clear things up. The only other thing I can think of is running something like ISINTEG to see if there is something that needs fixing within the database.
