Exchange 07 - Are there laws regarding email retention?
We have Exchange 07 on Server 2k3, which is operational, but not yet deployed. Before we do, I am curious what are the laws and regulations about email retention for government entities. I think we probably need some kind of set plan for backing up/retention, but I cant find much with the google. Any advice would be great.

I don't think many lawyers subscribe to this forum, and in any case I'm very certain that none of them would give you advice for free, nor would they be able to divine which governments have jurisdictions over your business operations. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . Hello, Ed is correct in that there are not many attorneys that subscribe to this forum and they are disinclined to give out free advice. Try a forum. In this one, there is a section for government law. http://forum.freeadvice.com/ Personally, what I suggest is that whatever entity you work for, there are guidelines or written policies that cover security, retention, access controls, etc. Find out what they are and read the manual that will detail the IT guidelines for you. Better CYA than rely on someone else's advise. Miguel Miguel Fra / Falcon ITS Computer & Network Support , Miami, FL Visit our Knowledgebase Sharepoint Site
