Exchange - 03/2010 Coexistence - OAB Generation Question
I'm currently working on an OAB issue in a very large coexistence environment. The transition is going well, and the generation server has been moved to a 2010 server. However, when changes (new mailboxes, distribution lists, name changes) are made from a 2003 server they are not updated in the GAL for mailboxes on the 2010 servers. My question is, since the generation server is running 2010; do the changes need to be made on a 2010 server to be pushed out? Better phrased: Will changes made on a 2003 server typically be apparent to mailboxes hosted on a 2010 mbx server? I'm trying to decide if somethings wrong, or if it's simply by design. -Matt

Is your issue with OAB or the GAL not updating?Sukh

If I make changes to a mailbox on a 2003 server the changes are not reflected to users whose mailboxes are hosted on a 2010 mbx server. Forgive the ignorance, but I believe the GAL is not updating correctly becuase there are issues with OAB?

For e.g if you create a new 2003 mailbox, do you see this on the GAL using a 2010 mailbox? And by using OWA with a 2010 mailbox?Sukh

Sukh, That is correct. However, I can see the new mailbox from OWA without any problem. Lisa, I'm in the process of checking distribution. I'll update this thread with what I find.

Then check that your OAB is working. Before focsuing on that, create an Outlook profile (online mode, dont use cache mode) for a 2010 mailbox, then see if you can see the user in the GAL. Also, if you select "All Users" from the address book do you see the user? If yes, then your issue is probably with the OAB.Sukh

Thanks Sukh, Problem was with OAB. Not entirely sure what the problem was, but our overseas team noted the problem and fixed it.
