Hi, You first have to check with : Eseutil /mh which will show if database is clean shutdown or dirty, if its a dirty shou shutdown, then go with eseutil /p for recover & eseutil /r repairRipu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

If you have a good backup, restore the file and logs. A -1018 is almost always casued by hardware problems. If the hardware isn't working right there will be more problems later. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

VMWare isn't hardware. >I dont have the backup of Exchange Server 2003. Then you're left with nothing but to atempt a repair of the database. Just be aware that this is hardly ever a lossless operation. If you're luck the error will be found in a page of empty space within the database. If you're unlucky you'll have a moutable database with nothing in it. Assuming that you'll be able to salvage the database, after running the repair operation you must eun "eseutil /d" on the file, followed by at least two executions of isinteg using the "-fix" and "-test alltests" parameters. Once you're finished with that, create a new databse and move all the mailboxes from the repaired database to the new database. Then dismount the repaired database and delete the mdb and stm files. You can also delete that database from the Exchange server. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Zahid, Remember that hardware can have intermittent problems... leaky capacitors, faulty soldering joints... tracks/sectors on the hard drive may be failing... Miguel Miguel Fra / Falcon ITS Computer & Network Support , Miami, FL Visit our Knowledgebase Sharepoint Site
