Exchange/ Outlook Anywhere
Hello, We have client who has hosted exchange outside the office. Is there any way that we can have outlook automatically log into without prompting for credentials? We are using RPC over HTTP to connect. Also, can we increase the timeout period we have to re-enter uid/pw? We cannot modify the Exchange server as it is hosted outside. It's Exchange is 2007 and we use outlook is 2003. Thanks, Naki Naki K. / Inside Support & Technical Support Associate / Falcon ITS Computer and Network Services , Miami, Fl

Shouldn't you be asking this question of the hosting provider? My guess is that the rpc virtual directory at the hosting site is set to use only basic authentication. But only the hoster can answer authoritatively. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Agree with Rich, this is a question for your hosting provider. Find out the type of authentication you are using and what client they recommend you using for their environment.Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:EMA 2K7,EDA Win 7,ES,SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Hi Naki K, Above gave some good suggestion, the authenticated mathod would be basic authentication, you could let your provider change it NTLM. You also need change the outlook 2003 to NTLM authenticated. seems at tools-account-moreseting-security I would suggest that you could change outlook 2003 to outlook 2007, it is MS recommended, there are some good feature for you using exchange 2007. Some good information for you: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997703(EXCHG.80).aspx Regards! Gavin

OK, Unfortunately the hosting provider's tech support staff have very limited knowledge and it's been impossible getting someone from a higher tier on the phone. I could not even find out if they offered E-mail encryption! When I spoke to sales they said yes but when I spoke to TS they told me that outlook already encrypted everything point to point and there was no further encryption necessary. I will try using NTLM to see if it works. Thanks all for you help! Naki Naki K. / Inside Support & Technical Support Associate / Falcon ITS Computer and Network Services , Miami, Fl
