Exchang 2003 Support
Does anyone have any information when Exchange 2003 will stop being supported by MS? I am trying to talk the boss into deploying Exchg 2007 now rather than later. We are currently into a project where we have agreed to use Avaya's Modular Messaging with our new Avaya (20) G650's and8700 media servers. This doesn't mean we can't change our minds and use something else since it wasn't purchased yet. My thoughts are that we will eventually have to upgrade to Exchg 2007 so why not do it now and forget the Avaya MM product. I just need an estimated date to motivate the CIO. Thanks JB

MS generally supports the latest 2 versions of a product, so sometime after the NEXT release of Exchange (Exchange 14), support for 2003 will be dropped. I'd say you've got a lot of good business case pitches for your CIO outside just UM. CCR and SCR provide multiple, and off-site database locations for DR and HA. Also, if your going to use it for UM and your aMVLS customer you'll need to get the Enterprise CAL, which includes forefront for exchange, Exchange Hosted Services and per-recipient journaling. If you end up using exchange shoot me an email. We've got an 8700 as well, but i've yet to setup UM. Also looking at rolling out OCS 07.
