Exch SP2 Install Error: Setup failed ... sub-component ... ActiveSync ... error code 0xC0070643 ...
I've upgraded an SBS 2003 SP2 machine to Exch. SP2. During install, I received a dialog box 'Setup failed while installing sub-component Exchange ActiveSync with error code 0xC0070643 (please consult ...logs). You may cancel ...or try ... again.' Upon Retry I could not get setup to continue. So, I canceled. However, setup continued and appeared to finish successfully. This problem is apparently due to a newer version of MSXML already installed. An MS KB article says that a disabled Windows Installer service can cause the error so start the Windows Installer service at the moment of error then Retry. Other online articles say to download the MSI for the version of MSXML running, then rename to vers. 3 and place in BIN folder. My question: Do I need to run SP2 upgrade again as it appears Exch is running normally? Control Pnl > Add/Remove Progs. shows MSXML 6 installed as well as a few MSXML 4 installs. I'm not getting any new Event log errors but I'm concened if MSXML install got whacked then schemas may be corrupted w/o me realizing the problem. Thank you

Hi Bob , I think you should download new MSI Package and than try to reinstall it. I hope it will work because I think there is something wrong with your downloaded MSI. Regards. Shafaquat Ali.M.C.I.T.P Exchange 2007/2010, M.C.I.T.P Windows Server 2008, M.C.T.S OCS Server 2007 R2
