Excel window opens but not visible on screen
Sometimes when I open an existing (or E-mail attached) Excel file it opens as a "window" but is outside of the area veiwed on screen. If I "Maximize" the sheet, I can then see the workbook on screen, but if I reduce to a window, it goes back off screen. I can see Data in the "Cell Location/Data Value" boxes and can change Cell Location using arrow, Home, & Page keys but cannot see the workbook. Is there a way to move the "window" size workbook  to the visible screen area using the keyboard since I can't see it to mouse over and drag it to center screen. This problem seems to have started when I started using multible screens about a year ago. Some E-mails I send with attached files get returned saying there is no file. I have to open the Excel file, save in a  "Maximize" view,  and resend. I use "Office 2007" at work.

A tiny trick:

First maximize the file, then using the mouse, drag the corners back to create a visible, non-maximized window.

Can I grab the corner in a "Maximize" view?

I think the problem is the screen size between the different users.

You should be able to rightclick on the icon on the taskbar and choose Move.

Then you can use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the window where you can
see it (and resize it to what you want).

If not try to first minimze the window and then right-click the task bar and pick Cascade Windows.

Hi

Press Alt + spacebar, then M. You can then use the up and left arrows to bring the window back on to your screen.

Once you get enough of it back you'll be able to use the window controls as normal.

If the window is too big you can also use Alt + spacebar, then S to resize the left side of the window.

Repeat until the window is restored to a suitable position.

Hope this helps

Sorry. The "Move" command is "gray' and does not work.  When the Workbook Icon shows up (usually lower left) in the Excel program window  the "Move" command does work and I can work several open workbooks. But when the "Reduced size window opens out of site, or "Off Screen" the Excel Icon is only in the "START" Task Bar and the "Move' command is "Gray". Is the Dual Monitor or settings an issue?

all of that Alt + spacebar, then M works to get the Icon back to a "Minimize" Icon at the Lower Left of the Excel Viewable program. I can open as "Maximize" and see data just fine. If I reduce to, or open to  "Window Size" the workbook moves to outside the border of the Viewable (what I can see) screen. Therefore preventing me from working with that file in anything but "Maximize" opened workbook.

Hi

It seems your not talking about the Excel window but the file window with it.  If this is the case then look for the Arrange All command in the View menu.  This will allow you to Tile, Cascade etc. the document windows.

When the File window is in the "Restore Window" mode, it does not show (visible on screen) within the Excel Program. The Excel program can be "Maximize" on 1 screen or "Window Size" on 1 or across 2 screens. Cascade or Tile does not make the File visible when it is in the Window mode.

Hi

Did you try the Arrange All command in the View Tab?

Don't confuse it with the Tile, Cascade in Windows.  You must use the one in Excel's menus/Ribbon.

That did it. It brought the "Window Size" file back into view. I appreciate your time and suggestion.

I had a user with this same problem. I saved and closed the sheet, opened excel in Safe mode (by holding control key on launch), then opened the recent sheet. Opened fine then.
