Excel or Text import wizard starts but will not import in Access - Office 2010

Access 2010 on Office 2010 will not import XLS XLSX or any type of text file data. I can import from Access but not Excel or text. Registering the wizard dlls worked on older versions of Access but I dont see how that works in Access 2010

The dialog box opens but after selecting a data source, it just closes with no warning.

Office is installed on 2 computers. Both are Windows 7 - both have the same problem.

I will use Access 2003 in the meantime but this should be fixed.

Hi,

I have tested on my side. It works fine. I can import xls or xlsx into Access 2010 without problems.

If you cannot, I suggest you trying completely uninstalling Office in its entirety (not just the Access portion) and then reinstalling it all over again. When you do the reinstall, ensure you install every program in the entire Office application by choosing "Run All From My Computer" when the program tree comes up during the installation routine.

In addition, you can refer to this article about how to import worksheet from Excel 2010 into Access 2010.

Hope that helps.

I was finally able to solve this problem by opening the Trust Center and Enabling All Macros in BOTH Access AND Excel. Enabling Macros in only Access did not work. It had to be both; even for importing text files into Access.

I thought this would be the answer to my issue--enabling macros, but no luck.  Did it in both excel and access.  I have the same result, select the file, but the Wizard does not start.  This is a new installation of Access and Excel 2013, so I am sure there is some setting that is holding me up.
