Excel crashes on save of new spreadsheet

I have an installation of Excel 2013 on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.  For any locally logged in user, creating a new spreadsheet and trying to save it results in a crash.  This occurs for any user, even new users who had not previously logged into the computer.  It doesn't matter if the file is attempted to be saved locally or on a network drive.  If the file already exists, it can be altered and saved again with no error.  Doesn't matter if the user is a local admin or not.  UAC is turned off.  This does not occur if the user logs in remotely to the computer using RDP.  I've applied all available Windows updates.

This is the message that is received (this error grab was from before I applied the most recent updates, but the error is the same):

Hi

Based on the log >> Fehlermodulname: StackHash_32ed <<  the StackHash crash problems on system is usually related to Data Execution Prevention. We can work around this issue by adding excel.exe to DEP exception list.

You can follow the steps below:

===============

1. Open Start menu and click Control Panel

2. Browse to System Maintenance then System

3. In the left panel, select Advanced System Settings from the available links

4. You should now see the System Properties Window, which will have three sections. The top section is labeled Performance and has a Settings button. Click this button.

5. Select the Data Execution Prevention tab.

6. Select the option which reads Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select

7. Use the Browse button to locate the excel.exe from the folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15

8. Click Apply or OK to save the changes.

Check again if the problem can be resolved.

Hi,

Please try the steps:

First enable app crash dump collection by copying following
words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing it:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error
Reporting\localdumps\EXCEL.EXE]

"DumpFolder"=hex(2):63,00,3a,00,5c,00,63,00,72,00,61,00,73,00,68,00,64,00,75,\

  00,6d,00,70,00,73,00,00,00

"DumpCount"=dword:00000010

"DumpType"=dword:00000001

"CustomDumpFlags"=dword:00000000

Then, open Excel to repro the issue. If crash issue appeared, please
find the crashdump file under c:\.
