Excel Power View Map - No Country Outlines / Map Data

Power View recognizes the city, state, countries of my data and plots it onto a map accordingly using 'Country' as the locations field however the map overview does not have any country outlines or any other map information. Initial settings were 'enabled' when originally prompted, Silverlight version is up to date, and Bing Maps work just fine when visited on an IE page.  I've toggled the map background options have been toggled with no result.  I also tried checking 'Disable hardware graphics acceleration' in Excel>Options>Advanced to no avail.

There seems to be a connection made with Bing Maps (it knows where Italy and every other country is after all) so I don't think it is a security setting unless there are additional settings that would prevent the detailed data from coming thru?

The same thing happens when I use the global map option as well - Earth shows up with the countries in their correct locations but nothing else is visible.

Thanks for the response - I will email the screenshots to you.  I'm using Windows 7, should have been more clear!

Hi,

I have received your email, and seen the screenshots. I tested the Power view may with my local environment, it seems worked well.

Do you mind telling us your Excel and Silverlight's version number? I recommend you try my version.

Excel: 15.0.4693.1000

Silverlight: 5.1.31211.0

If you have any update, please let me know.

I just went to:

(http)://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx

and uninstalled/reinstalled the version there:
Silverlight 5 (5.1.30514.0)

Where can I locate the version 5.1.31211.0?

Excel has just been updated to 15.0.4701.1002 and still experiencing same issue - data is loading to correct countries but the map does not have any outlines or data.

EDIT - I refreshed Excel sheet after downloading Office Updates (company has auto-update off) and this seems to have solved my problem.

Thank you for your help and assistance - it appears not having the most up to date version of Excel was the culprit.

Well that was short lived - I started up this morning and the issue is happening again.

Why would this work one day and not work the next?

I have the similar issue that looked all blank, and fixed update the Silverlight 5.
