Excel Office 2010 - When opening file it adds a 1 to the file name

I have done some digging and have come across this thread below, and the fix in it is not working for us...

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2003-excel/excel-adds-a-1-to-file-name-on-saving-file/11b228ba-7ffd-4143-807f-f18c74210b39

I am curious if anyone has any ideas on this? On one workstation New is BOLD, and Open is not when right clicking the file and this what's causing our issue, we just can't seem to get it fixed and want to ask around before trying a reinstall, or rebuilding her windows profile.

Thanks in advance!

Hi kroseler,

According to your description, when you tried to save an existing excel file, the file add (1) to the end of your file name. And you have tried to unregserver and regserver excel, but the issue still exists. Could you tell me where did you wonder to save the file? In network or local computer? Did this issue appear in all files or only particular files?

If it only appear in particular file, I suggest you try this method and check if it works for you.

Open one file, and then go to VIEW-Window-select New Window. Now you can have 2 files: Filename(1) and Filename(2). Now active Filename.2 and close it, then you can find at the end of the filename in the title bar should have gone. Save the file and reopen it check if it works fine now.

Please try this method and let me know if it works. Im glad to help and follow up your reply.

If this issue appeared in all files, please be a bit be a bit more precise explain your problem so that we can get more accurate solutions to this problem.

Hope its helpful.
