Excel Document changes when sent from author to colleges

We have an Excel 2010 document that we want to use as a template for an audit.

As soon as the author distributes the document to the other parties that need to use the document, the document changes. The column widths and the font sizes are completely different.

Then when we enter data in the document in its distorted state and we send it back to the author. The document is 100% fine again and all the columns and fonts are back to what they should be.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this as we have tried everything to resolve this, but to no avail.

Please assist.
