Excel Crashes on start when loading personal.xlsb

Yesterday all of the sudden when I started excel a message box told me that my personal.xlsb was disabled because of some problems.

I have a lot of macros in there so today I enabled it and restarted excel. The same message box appeard once again.

When I try to open the personal.xlsb excel crashes and I get the following error:

I already tried the suggested solutions here https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c1ed3d04-a9f3-4ab2-aef9-7ffbe211ffd9/excel-2013-crashing-when-personalxlsb-is-enabled?forum=excel and here http://blogs.technet.com/b/the_microsoft_excel_support_team_blog/archive/2012/09/07/excel-crashes-in-vbe7-dll-running-or-enabling-macro.aspx wihtout success.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Try copying the file, renaming it to something different with the extension .xlsm. Then try opening it on another computer and if possible another version of Excel. Another trick is the deep dive and adding .zip to the filename and going into the heart of the file by examining every folder inside the zip file. This way you might be able to retain some of your functionality. You can do so by renaming the personal and creating a new personal.xlsb. Then move the folders from the .zip file one by one to the folder in the new personal.xlsb zip file (or at least compare them).

Thanks Maurice!

Opening it on another computer and saving it there did the trick. So everything works fine now.

I am still confused why that happend. I was working with PowerPivot the day before and didn't do anything with my macros.
