Excel 2013 files opened in restore down tile - make it stop

I open several excel files every morning. I prefer to open them in restore down mode (not maximized) because I transfer data from other spreadsheets and non-excel sources. They do not open on top of each other. They open in tile mode. I would prefer they open on top of each other because I have to move them every morning. In previous versions of Excel this was not a problem but it is an incredible annoyance in Excel 2013. How can I get multiple files to justify to the same position when opened in restore down mode (not maximized)?

Hi TheRealBeanCounter,

In Excel 2013, each of your workbooks opens in its own window. This is a new feature in Excel 2013. This feature can improve multitasking, visibility, and analysis across workbooks. Here is an official blog to introduce this new feature: http://blogs.office.com/2013/06/03/opening-workbooks-by-running-separate-instances-of-excel/

How about using the Arrange all function as a workaround to help you? Click on View the Arrange All to stack your open windows. As shown in the following figure:

BTW, I think you can also use third-party plugins to solve your problem.

Thanks for the reply. I knew about the change with Excel opening multiple instances. The auto arrange isn't a viable solution for how I like to work. I guess my only option is a third party plug-in. I am surprised Microsoft hasn't developed an option for this because it is one of the largest complaints I hear from everyone. Second only to the rearrange of the ribbon. Thanks for the reply, though.
