Excel 2013 crashes while copying images between workbooks

Since our upgrade to 2013 from 2007 we have had a users Excel (using windows 7) crash at least once daily copying and pasting rows with images to another workbook. It does not happen every time they copy and paste. I have since taken the offending documents and copied them to my computer (using windows 8.1). I am able to replicate this issue on my computer consistently using Excel 2013. I have tried using Excel 2007 on another machine and cannot replicate the error. It is not an option to downgrade.

Things I have tried so far include:

Compressing Pictures to email(96 dpi)

disable Live Preview.

disable hardware graphics acceleration.

copy both workbooks to new workbooks.

check for issues via File > Info

Open and repair both documents via File > Open

Tried saving as .XLS instead of them being .XLSX

removed formulas

change virtual memory to 2x amount of RAM
Excel safe mode
disable add-ins
change default printer
Repair office
reinstall office
re-seat memory
Rename HKEY_CURRENT_USERS\...\Software\Microsoft\Office\<version =15.0 for Office 2013>\Common
Rename 'Common' as 'Common_Bad'

recreate profile

Size of these documents are 2.8 MB and 2.3 MB and I am copying from the larger file to the smaller file. I copy 4 rows, each row with an image. Then paste multiple times to simulate the copy paste end user would be doing. After anywhere between 2-15 pastes it will hang and crash.

Looking forward to your feedback.

Hi Troymdm,

Which version of Office 2013 are you using? 32bit or 64bit?

Based on your description, you have tried several methods to resolve this issue but failed.

First of all, I suggest you check the version of Office. It's different between 64bit and 32bit, 32bit Office you run are limited to making use of only 2GB of RAM. You can refer to this article:
https://support.office.com/en-sg/article/Choose-the-32-bit-or-64-bit-version-of-Office-2dee7807-8f95-4d0c-b5fe-6c6f49b8d261?ui=en-US&rs=en-SG&ad=SG

Then please try to collect the event log messages and send the event log messages to our email address:

Please Note: Please add the URL of the case in the email subject or body.

So that I can get more information from event log messages, I'm glad to help and follow up your reply.
