Excel 2013 Quick Explore not working with SharePoint Online (Grayed Out)

Hi All,

I am trying to get the Excel 2013 Quick Explore to work with my SharePoint Online site. The Excel document is stored within a SharePoint document library and I can view and edit it OK.

The Quick Explore works fine when I am using it with the Excel desktop application:

but it doesnt work when I use it with SharePoint Online Excel (view or edit mode). It is grayed out as shown in the screenshot below:

Is there something I need to do to the Excel file before uploading the file to SharePoint Online? Or is there a setting I need to do within the SharePoint Online Document Library.

I hope you can help,
CEBlueSky

Hi CEBlueSky,

As far as I know, the Quick Explore is supported in Excel Online.

You can refer to this article about Business intelligence in Excel and Excel Services (SharePoint Server 2013):

https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/Business-intelligence-in-Excel-and-Excel-Services-SharePoint-Server-2013--2740f10c-579d-4b40-a1d9-7beb5d38547c?ui=en-US&rs=en-GB&ad=GB

Then from your second image, you didn't select the data in chart but the whole chart. I suppose if this is the reason you can't use the Quick Explore function.

If possible, you could send a similar sample to our email address:
ibsofc@microsoft.com I'd like to help you check it.
Please Note: The email subject you should use the URL or the Title Name of your case.

Hi Emi,

I do right-click the data bar, but the screenshot doesn't show the mouse pointer. Quick Explore works on the desktop version but not on the online web version. I can not understand why Microsoft would have the Quick Explore icon within SharePoint Online if you couldn't use it.

Do you have it working on your SharePoint Online site? If yes, can you please send me step-by-step instructions on how to get it working.

Many thanks
Courtney
