I actually figured out my problem.
I was trying to use the delimiter on a return character, so I was typing CTRL+J into the "Other" box. It would put the return character into the box, but I would not see it. Once I hit "Delete" the return character was gone, and the box would work normally.
I made the mistake of opening a new workbook inside the same application of Excel, the return character would carry over to the new workbook's Text to Columns tool. So it seemed like that box would not work when I typed a character into it, because the return character was still in that box, but I did not see it.
