Ex 2k10 SP1 RU6: Storage Group Consistency check event 200
Hi All,
Not sure if I'm doing this in the right forum category, let me know if I need to place this elsewhere.
Hoping someone can provide some advise or solution. I have two DB's that when dismounted show clean shutdown when using eseutil /mh however I'm getting the following error when starting the backup which invokes the VSS backup writer.
Source: Storage Group Consistency
Event ID: 200 Task Category: Database Header Validation
Instance 1: Database headers have been successfully validated. All databases are in a dirty shutdown state. To bring these databases to a clean shutdown state, log generations 1735008 (0x001a7960) to 1735082 (0x001a79aa) will be required.
To give some background we were using circular logging and have now moved to incremental logging, which I know that when changing the setting you need to dismount and remount the DB to make this change fully take effect. I have done this and while in a dismounted
state both DB's show clean shutdown using eseutil /mh and there are no warnings or errors while mounting the database either.
This is affecting our backup agent which is via Commvault, if I switch back to circular logging our backups complete without issue) but we're at the point with the DB's that fulls take about 23 hours to complete with the included consistency check time frame
and we're wanting to cut this time down as not to bleed into the next full. (The DB's are about 600GB each).
Thanks for any and all assistance.

Hi,
After you had turned circular logging off, did you run a full backup?
If not, I think that's your problem because you need to.Martina Miskovic
