Ex2013 - Email delivery delayed for hours in Exchange

Exchance 2013 on Server 2012 - Exchange receives emails then delays them internally for at least 30 mins, most often hours.  I'm intermediate skillset on Exchange and a novice with 2013.

Server.sub.domain.com is our server.  This was received at 02:23 and wasn't delivered to the mailbox until 04:07.  The server is a new build, only about 2 months old, with a very small number of users and low utilization.  It's not a hardware or resource issue, I believe it's simple configuration that I've missed somewhere.

We're having internal delivery problems as well, but I believe that's Outlook cache related, rather than Exchange.  Exchange is running on the server and we have Hyper-V running a single workstation VM for off-site users.

Just to be complete, the internal error message is below.

Hi,

From your description, the emails from both Internet and Internal will be delayed between Hub and MBX.

If I have misunderstood your concern, please free let me know.

First, will the recipients receive these emails finally?

If so, the issue may be related to the poor Mailbox server disk.

And a related thread for your reference:

If not, is there NDR from senders? Could you please post the NDR here for further research?

Besides, I recommend you do the followings to check the result:

1. Disable the anti-virus on Exchange Mailbox server.

2. Use the Get-TransportAgent cmdlet to list all transport agents and disable the third party transport agent.

3. Sometimes, the issue may be related to the TCP Chimney Offload, if there is TCP Chimney Offload, please disable it.

4. If the issue persists, to narrow down the problem, I recommend you check the message tracking log.
