Event is not installed on Exchange 2010 SP1 server
Hello,
I tend to see these events quite a bit on one or more of my Exchange 2010 SP1 servers...
The description for Event ID XXX from source ESE cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
I've searched the forums, and this pops up a lot, but all the threads are about solving a different issue, and not this one in particular. Can anyone help explain how I can "install or repair"
these components? I am assuming that reinstalling Exchange would do the trick, but I'm looking for something a little less intrusive, if such a method exists.
Cheers

The issue
may happen when a backup program is run that calls the eseutils for integration check, In this case the eseutils.exe
is replacing the ese.dll with eseutils.exe the below registry key
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application\ESE\CategoryMessageFile
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application\ESE\EventMessageFile
To troubleshoot this issue, please apply the latest RUs to fix the Exchange related files and registry.
Thanks,
Simon
