Event Source: ESE Event ID: 301 - Why is this filling up my Application Log??
Per Syed Khairuddin this question was supposed to be posted, so if it is not.....don't flame me...LOL!!All of a sudden this is appearing in the App log every one second.....dsmhost (2088) DSM_JET_INSTANCE: The database engine has begun replaying logfile C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1.KBJ\LOCALS~1\Temp\Edb6779.tmp{73199AAB-02A3-11DE-AAC1-00221920CA64}\Exchange Server\Mailbox\Second Storage Group\E0100001C62.log.This server is a 2003 R2 and is the storage server which also runs the backup software. That software has nothing to do w/ Exchange so why is this looking or even fooling w/ Exchange?? The backup program and software are not backing up Exhcange. Exchange is on another server w/ it's own backup program.TIA

Reviewing the Application log for the Exchange server. No errors since a reboot on 3/31.Reviewing the App log for the Storage server. No errors or warnings related to Exchange. This might shed some light on this. Overa month ago we retired the old Exchange server so I reviewed the App log on that old server. It is being used as an backup domain server. It is firing off the following errors.Event Type:WarningEvent Source:MSExchangeTransportEvent Category:Routing Engine/Service Event ID:953Date:4/8/2009Time:8:48:01 AMUser:N/AComputer:MTJ01Description:Following client routing node failed to connect to its resvc C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\inetinfo.exe Event Type:WarningEvent Source:MSExchangeTransportEvent Category:Connection Manager Event ID:4006Date:4/8/2009Time:8:32:58 AMUser:N/AComputer:MTJ01Description:Message delivery to the host '192.168.1.10' failed while delivering to the remote domain '_21c1bfe86325ba45b67ce03e14e5443a_D' for the following reason: The connection was dropped by the remote host

So, old exchange server has retired and now ran as a backup DC, exchange has been removed from the server, right? How did you perform the exchange removal procedure on the old exchange server? Please describe the exchange topology Please run ExBPA for a health check on the exchange Resources: The Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine service does not start and logs events 116, 953, or 7023 Transport connection manager warning event was logged within the last 24 hours

A consultant did the installation and recommened not uninstalling Exchange from the old server in case we ever needed a backup Exchange server. The Store service is stopped.Current setup has the new server as the domain controller and exchange server on Windows 2008 server. Not sure exactly what you are referring to when you ask for the topology.....please explain what you are looking for...I've run the ExBPA.....what information would you like from that?.....I can't find the events you list on the current Exchange server. Nor do they show up on the old Exchange server.Event 4006 is firing on the old Exch serv.....Thanks for your help!!

Since exchange hadnt been removed from old server, you may refer the resources my posted above to troubleshoot the warning events After ran ExBPA, is it any error info in the output? Which exchange server have you run, the new one, the old one or both? You are using exchange server 2007 on new server?

James,I looked into your link concerning the Transport connection manager warning.....that link didn't provide anything about solving this error. Your link for KB 301438 is about corrupted mailboxes. I get none of the Events in that article.....Your link for Event 301 detail......offers no solutions other than what I already know....The other links offer no solution except to remind me I have this error....I only ran ExBPA on the new Exchange server......why would I run it on the old one?Yes....2007 on the new serverI went in and stopped/disabled all Exchange services on the old one.....some were still running.....and the 301 events keep firing....again I have to ask.....why does my Storage Server even care about Exchange events????Thanks
