Event ID 2004, error, source PerfNet
I'm running Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2, and I'm getting this error event every time I start the server: ID 2004, source PerfNet, text "Unable to open the Server service performance object. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the status code (0000: c0000034 or 0000: 34 00 00 c0)."  I have not noticed any problems with the Exchange Server's operation, but I'm checking into all the warnings and errors logged on the system.  I haven't been able to find anything helpful about this one online, so I figured I'd throw it up here and see if anyone has any insight into it.  Thanks in advance if you do.

Thanks Sneff--I saw that article and checked the Server service on my server, and it was running and already set to automatic start, so I don't that was the issue.  Honestly, I don't know what this event is referring to--there are no noticeable problems with the server.  Thanks again for you suggestion, though.

Hi DBVW Architects,

This issue may cause by 3rd party processes are loading performace dll's.

The service is loading perfnet.dll and querying the server service before it starts.

The 3rd party service starts before the server service.

Please try to find following processes and changed all the services below to automatic delayed start and rebooted the server.

CQMGHOST.EXE 2892 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PERFOS.DLL

CQMGHOST.EXE 2892 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PERFNET.DLL

CQMGHOST.EXE 2892 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PERFDISK.DLL

CQMGHOST.EXE 2892 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PERFCTRS.DLL

CQMGHOST.EXE 2892 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PERFPROC.DLL

RSCD.EXE 1716 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PDH.DLL

CQMGSERV.EXE 2436 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PDH.DLL

CQMGHOST.EXE 2892 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\PDH.DLL

HP Insight NIC Agents

HP Insight Server Agents

HP Insight Storage Agents

BladeLogic RSCD Agent

HP Insight Foundation Agents

Thanks

Thanks Mavis, but please clarify for me--what should I do with the processes if I find them?  And should I use Task Manager or Process Explorer to look for them?  I checked for the services you listed, but none of them exist on this computer.

Thanks Sneff--I did see that EventID.net article, but most of it seemed not applicable.  I might try the mobsync.dll suggestion though, after I do some more research into it.  I have to proceed carefully since this is our (only) email server.  I'll let you know if I make any progress on this.

I tried regsvr32 "%systemroot%\system32\mobsync.dll" /u on my server, but the command failed.  I searched and there is no mobsync.dll on my server.
