Error with OWA for 2007 MB users using /Exchange virtual directory
Hello,I have an environment with 2003 Mailbox servers, 1 2007 MB server, and one CAS server. OWA is made available through https://server/exchange2003 users can connect to their mailboxes fine via the above url.2007 users are unable to connect to their mailboxes via the /Exchange virtual directory. When the user enters their username and password, they receive an "incorrect user name or password". This logon error is not recorded on the CAS, the mailbox server, or the AD servers. I have verified the user name and password used is correct. Repeatedly entering the user name and password does not lock out the account either. If 2007 users access https://server/owa, they are able to access their mailbox. Why is the redirection from /Exchange to /Owa not working for 2007 Mailbox users? I want to make OWA available via one URL and not have to publish 2 URL's for 2003 and 2007 users.thanks.Sky

Hi Sky, Please verify IIS related settings according to the following article: Default settings for Exchange-related virtual directories in Exchange Server 2007 http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2008/02/01/447989.aspx Then restart IIS service and test the issue again. Thanks, Elvis

Hello,I have verified the IIS settings. I should mention that my current setup is Windows 2008 and IIS 7. The document you pointed to is referring to IIS 6, and my current permissions match those on the documen.I have attempted this with forms based and Basic Auth. and the same thing happens. 2003 MB users can log on using the /exchange, and the 2007 users cannot. For the 2007 users, the "enter your user name and password prompt" keeps popping back after they enter their credentials. It acts as though the credentials entered are incorrect. The 2007 MB users can log on if they use the /owa. I'm completely stumped. Any other ideas?thanks,Sky.

An update to this problem. I installed Windows 2003 64 bit, and installed Exchange 2007 and made this my new CAS. I turned off the original 2007 CAS server. I then attempted the following: 2003 MB user accessOWA by typing https://server/exchange - All works well 2007MB user accessOWA by typing https://server/exchange - Nothing happens. Repeatedly prompted to enter credentials. 2007 MB user accessOWA by typing https://server/owa - All works well. I then attempted to access the mailbox by connecting directly to the mailbox server - http://2007mailboxserver/exchange I'm prompted with a login I enter credentials I receive the following error - 500 - Internal Server Error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for and it cannot be displayed" I attempt to login again. This time i enter valid user, incorrect password a couple of times. I eventually receive an error informing me of invalid credentials. In all, where is the disconnect? Why is the 2007 Mailbox server not redirecting back to the CAS /OWA for Exchange 2007 users who use /Exchange when loggin in?

I've retraced all the steps in http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354.aspx for the CAS server but still the same errors. Any other thoughts? Thanks
