Error when attempting to access Shared Folders, Calendar and Contacts
Hey guys,Fairly new to Exchange, so be gentle with tips please. Here is my dilemma... We have an Exchange 2007 setup for our companies enterprise email, and for shared data. A couple weeks ago I noticed that when I (or anyone else in the comapny for that matter) attempted to access any shared folders, caledar or contacts, we get the following on the screen: "Cannot display the folder. Network problems are preventing connection to Microsoft Exchange". Of course, there are no network problems, and we are all connected to Exchange just fine as far as I know. After doing some intense Googling, I found nothing really to help me. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, we need our shared stuff back. Thanks!

Answer to the first reply: No errors in Event Viewer; Yes, the folders, calendar and contacts are indeed in the Public FolderAnswer to second reply: Yes, I do have permissions to access all of the shared materialsAnswer to third reply: Couldn't get the best practices analyzer tool to install, it said I needed .net framework 1.1 although I have 3.5 installed, so I don't know what the problem is there.Any more suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hi,Whether any error message come up in the event log?Whether the shared folders, calendar or contacts place on the Public Folder?ThanksAllen The weird thing is this was working a couple weeks ago. I didnt notice any significant changes that may have affected it since then. I have checked to make sure the databased are mounted, and they are. I do have some errors/warning in Event Viewer that may give some clues to somebody...1) Event ID: 9186 (warning occurs every 15 minutes)Microsoft Exchange System Attendant has detected that the local computer is not a member of group '/dc=com/dc=ourcompanydc/ou=Microsoft Exchange Security Groups/cn=Exchange Servers'. System Attendant is going to add the local computer into the group. 2) Event ID: 8207 (error occurs approximately every hour)Error updating public folder with free/busy information on virtual machine ARTHUR. The error number is 0x80004005.Exchange seems to still be working good, no other problems that I have noticed besides our shared calendars and contacts. Thanks guys, any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,First I would like to confirm how many Exchange servers exist in your environment?Second, please confirm whether the local computer is a member of Exchange Servers group? If not, please add it manually. Thanks Allen

This is the only Exchange server in the network, and it is indeed a member of the Exchange Servers Group.

~ Make sure that computer account is also a member of "Exchange Domain Servers" group. ~ Is it only Exchange 2003 Server in your environment? Make sure that, "Shared Calendar" folder has correct replica of Exchange 2003 Public Folder database (it shouldn't have dead Exchange server PF database or shouldn't have blank replica list)... ~ This is dumb but verify that Outlook is not set "Work Offline" in file menu... ~ Restart Exchange server during off-hours and check the situation... "Is it only Exchange 2003 Server in your environment?" - This is not Exchange 2003, it is Exchange 2007 Also, I have fixed both of the errors in event viewer and the problem still persists. I can't believe we haven't figured this out yet, what a pain in the tail

I have the same error. I am running the RC of Windows 7 however. I thought it was a windows 7 issue, because that is when it wasn't working. However, yesterday, after rebooting the client computer the folders started working. Today however, they are not working again. I have rebooted the PC, still no luck.Ideas?Jon
