Error when added Public Folder in Exchange 2007
Hi guys, We have recently installed a new Exchange 2007 server and migrated all mailboxes over. Everything is fine apart from the fact when we attempt to add a new public folder and mount this we recieve the following error: Summary: 2 item(s). 0 succeeded, 1 failed. Elapsed time: 00:00:00 New Sheraton Public FoldersFailed Error:Active Directory operation failed on sheraton-svr.sheraton.co.uk. This error is not retriable. Additional information: Access is denied.Active directory response: 00000005: SecErr: DSID-03151E04, problem 4003 (INSUFF_ACCESS_RIGHTS), data 0 The user has insufficient access rights. Exchange Management Shell command attempted:new-publicfolderdatabase -StorageGroup 'SHERATON-EXCH\First Storage Group' -Name 'Sheraton Public Folders' -EdbFilePath 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Mailbox\First Storage Group\Sheraton Public Folders.edb' Elapsed Time: 00:00:00 Mount Sheraton Public FoldersCancelled I know the error is stating a permissions problem but I don't know where? Many Thanks Martyn

Hi, I am facing exactly your same problem with the same error message. The user I am using to create the Public Folder Database is an Enterprise Admin,Exchange Server Admin and Exchange Organization Admin. I have another Exchange 2007 server in the organization with a Public Folder database created and working fine. Any help please? Thanks Roderick

Hi Martyn Since I encountered your same problem in a test environment, I was able to perform certain actions, that otherwise might have been frightening to do....and after some playing around I managed to create this Public Folder Database!! I used ADSIEdit to remove Deny permissions that where present on the Storage Group I tried to create the database in. I cannot tell you exactly which Permission did the trick, since I removed a lot of denies....and there are a lot of permissions there. The permissions you need to edit are below, obviously with different server names: CN=First Storage Group,CN=InformationStore,CN=GOZOEX64,CN=Servers,CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative Groups,CN=GozoExchange,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=gozo,DC=local Hope this helps you out Roderick

Martyn, Where did you find the items you listed above? "CN=First Storage Group,CN=InformationStore,CN=GOZOEX64,CN=Servers,CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT),CN=Administrative Groups,CN=GozoExchange,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=gozo,DC=local" I installed the same tool on the Exchange server. Found my AD and spent well over an hour looking for the items you mentioned. I am having the exact same problem as the previous two users. Logged on as Administrator account which has all the Exchange Security Group permissions, plus Domain Admins and Enterprise Admins. Still Access Denied. Attempted installing the Public Folders Database file in several different locations as well. No luck. Lee
