Error initializing session for virtual machine DCMAIL
Hi,We are running 15 site Exchange 2003 messaging system with Exchange located in every site and has a routing group individually. I user setup /disasterrecovery to recover a crashed Exchange 2003 Server in one of our site. Everything seems to work fine, but I regularly see the below errorError : "Error initializing session for virtual machine IMDMBX01. The error number is 0x8004011d. Make sure Microsoft Exchange Store is running. The following KB arcticle asks to rum domainprep again. My question is will it affect my other production system anyway? Just as a precaution, I would like your expert advice.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896703Regards,Tariq

Domainprep will not harm anything. Looks like Exchange server is lacking the default permission somewhere after the Recovery. so by running the /DomainPrep will Reset the Exchange Enterprise Server default permissions at the domain level. Below are the tasks performed by Domainprep Domainprep is necessary for the recipient update service (RUS) and to create the groups and permissions necessary for Exchange servers to read and modify user attributes. DomainPrep creates two new domain groups: Exchange Domain Servers (a Windows 2003 global security group) and Exchange Enterprise Servers (a Windows 2003 domain local security group) Read the below article it has deep explanation about same. http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Forestprep-Domainprep-Explained.html Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Thanks Vinod. I have always used on a new domain and was little reluctant to go and run on a existing domain with Exchange Server(s). Thanks for your advice.RegardsmTariq
