Error in registering Exchange extensions into SCW using Exch 2007 SP3 on 2008 R2
With Exchange 2007 SP3 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2, I'm trying to register the Exchange extensions into the Security Configuration Wizard. However, it has not worked for me. I've used the exchange management shell and "register-ExchangeSCW.sp1 -register" command to add it but that didn't work I've also tried using the scwcmd command within the command prompt without any success. scwcmdLog.XML yielded this in the log, <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="../TransformFiles/View/LogView.xslt"?> <Log><LogEntry Time="‎9/‎23/‎2010 9:09:12 AM" HRESULT="0x80070057" Level="Error" Message="Failed to perform registration" SystemErrorMessage="The parameter is incorrect.
"/></Log> And SCWRegistrar_log.xml, <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="../TransformFiles/View/LogView.xslt"?> <Log><LogEntry Time="‎9/‎23/‎2010 9:09:12 AM" HRESULT="0x80070057" Level="Error" Message="The Registration-Info XML is invalid, reason: The attribute 'Profile' on the element 'FirewallRule' is not defined in the DTD/Schema.
" SystemErrorMessage="The parameter is incorrect.
"/></Log> Any ideas or thoughts? Thanks

I wonder if Exchange 2007 SP3 is supported by SCW. What the first link tells me is that SCW won't have Exchange 2010 extensions and Microsoft is not going to do anything about it. Does that hold the same for Exch 2007 SP3? If that is the case, what would be an alternative in locking down an Exchange server?

Hi, The 'register-ExchangeSCW.sp1 ' can work in Exchange 2007 SP3. I have tested it my lab. What's the error you got after runnning the command? Please try the following steps: 1. Make sure that Security Configuration Wizard is installed on. 2. Download the 'register-ExchangeSCW.sp1 file from my skydrive: http://cid-2d68430fc8d84837.office.live.com/self.aspx/Tools/Register-ExchangeSCW.ps1 3. Rename your 'register-ExchangeSCW.sp1 to 'register-ExchangeSCW.old. Paste the downloaded 'register-ExchangeSCW.sp1' to the folder C:\program files\micorosoft\exchange server\Scripts 4. Run the register-ExchangeSCW.sp1 -register from Exchange Managment shell. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. Thanks Gen Lin-MSFT

Hey Gen, The error I get is what is up in the first post. I'll give this a try. Edit: I gave it a try, but I still got the same error from SCWRegister_log.xml, <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="../TransformFiles/View/LogView.xslt"?> <Log><LogEntry Time="‎9/‎28/‎2010 1:24:18 PM" HRESULT="0x80070057" Level="Error" Message="The Registration-Info XML is invalid, reason: The attribute 'Profile' on the element 'FirewallRule' is not defined in the DTD/Schema.
" SystemErrorMessage="The parameter is incorrect.
"/></Log> Mind you, I'm also using Windows Server 2008 R2.

I am having the exact same issue. Exchange 2007 (version 8.3, build 83.6), Windows 2008 R2 STD (version 6.1 build 7600). It does not appear that there is a solution to this thread. My files: scwcmdlog.xml <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="../TransformFiles/View/LogView.xslt"?> <Log><LogEntry Time="6/13/2011 2:58:56 PM" HRESULT="0x80070057" Level="Error" Message="Failed to perform registration" SystemErrorMessage="The parameter is incorrect. "/></Log> SCWRegistrar_log.xml <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="../TransformFiles/View/LogView.xslt"?> <Log><LogEntry Time="6/13/2011 2:58:56 PM" HRESULT="0x80070057" Level="Error" Message="The Registration-Info XML is invalid, reason: The attribute 'Profile' on the element 'FirewallRule' is not defined in the DTD/Schema. " SystemErrorMessage="The parameter is incorrect. "/></Log>
