Error during PST backup process

Hi,

I am running 3 office 365 exchange accounts in Outlook 2010.

For 1 of the accounts, when I try to make a PST backup, midway thru a message pops out, saying something like this (I cant recall the exact words but it is to this effect):

"an object was not found, process failed"

But the PST file is still created. Does this mean the PST file is missing some of my mails, contacts, calendar items, notes etc?

Appreciate any & all immediate assistance.

Regards,

Doshi

Hi,

Did you back up your items manually by exporting to the .pst file?

To test the issue, create a new .pst file before you export the items, then import the items again, check whether the issue is reproduceable.

First things first. Exporting in no way backs up Outlook data and should never be used for that purpose. You should only use export to convert your Outlook data to some other format. To back up your Outlook data you simply make a copy of your data file when Outlook is closed.

Hi Melon,

I don't quite get what you are asking me to do, I am not very tech savvy.

Could you kindly provide step-by-step instructions if possible?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi Allen,

I am using 3 Exchange Online (Office 365) accounts in Outlook. The data file is .ost & not .pst, as such when I tried to restore the .ost backup recently due to accidental deletion of mails, I was unable to. Thus I realized that .ost is not a backup solution for outlook when used with Exchange accounts.

Is this incorrect?

Reason I'm asking is that I was unable to import back into Outlook using the backup copy of the .ost date file for the account in question.

Await your response.

Doshi
