Error Removing the Mailbox role from a 2007 Exchange Server do to a unexistant pre-Exchange 2007 server in our Organization.
We recently migrated from using Exchange 2007 to using Google Apps, I've been trying to decommission the exchange server, I am unable to remove the Maibox role from the server, I get the following error message when I run the uninstall process. "Uninstall cannot continue. Database 'Public Folder Database': Exchange cannot remove the public folder database SMEXCHANGE01\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database because it is the last public folder database in an organization that has pre-Exchange 2007 servers. Organizations that have pre-Exchange 2007 servers must have at least one public folder database." The company I work for had an Exchange 2003 server, before they upgraded to a new hardware with an Exchange 2007 server. Apparently the Exchange 2003 server was not properly removed What can I do so I can properly remove this Exchange 2007 server from our organization? There is no need to keep the public folder database. Is there a way to remove the Old exchange 2003 server from the organization even though that server was already disposed of?

Well, if you really dont care about it, you could always remove the Exchange 2003 object under the configuration container ( as well as the public folder store objects) via adsiedit.msc
