Error 1276 database does not match the DN of directory
Hello,I reinstalled my Exchange 2007 server and replayed the logfiles so my edb file is rebuilt again in another folder. What is the best procedure to mount this edb-file and afterwards extract a mailbox from it? I tried to overwrite the "Mailbox Database.edb" that was created when I was reinstalling Exchange, but then I get the error 1276 database does not match the DN of directory when I try to mount it. The server is installed outside the directory as a virtual server. Is there a way to pount that database on the new virtual server? Thanks

Thanks Xiu Zhang,That solved it. In fact the error exactly what it should be, but I was always looking over it. Just one more question: If you rebuild a database until a certain date, then what about the messages that have been downloaded with pop3? Will they be available for download again? Thanks

Hi, Exchange 2007 used the Article ID (PR_INTERNET_ARTICLE_NUMBER, ptagFolderInternetId,ptagImapUID) return as the UID for the UIDL command. This value changes with any modification to the message, including setting a flag. The Outlook clients stores a list of the UID values locally for each message that it downloads, and uses these to confirm that it is not downloading duplicate messages I have set up a lab, using recovery storage group to recover mailbox and then check the value on PR_INTERNET_ARTICLE_NUMBER via MFCmapi and found that the value has been changed after the message recovered from backup. Thus I think the message will be downloaded again after you recover the mailbox. Also I recommend you test the issue in your lab to verify if the value on PR_INTERNET_ARTICLE_NUMBER will be changed. Regards, Xiu

Hello Xiu,Thank you very very much!!! I will verify it in my testlab, but at least now I am sure that it is worth the effort. You really helped me out on this one!!!
