Error - some mail stuck in the queue ..
Hi guys, I am a newbie here so any help would be most appreciated. It's a simple one, in my Exchange 2003 Server, some messages are stuck in the queue with the error "The connection was dropped due to an SMTP protocol event sink.". From what I have read, it could be a rDNS error but I have checked and all is fine. My DNS server is also working correctly. Any ideas? Cheers.

I would start with the smtpdiag tool (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=BC1881C7-925D-4A29-BD42-71E8563C80A9&displaylang=en It will give you a basic idea of why SMTP is having issues. You can also turn up SMTP protocol logging (KB 821910) Good luck! Tim

Hi Tim, thanks for the info. Have just downloaded and ran and all show up as OK, except I have a DNS Server error (the last one of about 8), showing as [0.0.0.0]. This is strange. I suppose it's a call to MS. Thanks again for the info. Dave.

Guys, Just been resolved by MS. It was a DNS issue (appparently the DNS servers I am using aren't able to resolve anything other than the first mail server, where multiple mail servers exist). Instead of connecting to the second mail server when the connection to the first is dropped, Exchange Server just brings up the error. One way around this was to create a connector for each problem domain, this resolved the issue. Thanks Tim for helping me on this.

Glad to help you out! Now if someone could shed some light on my "long filename support" question....
