Entourage 2008 and Exchange 2007 issues
Good day, I require help with Entourage 2008 and Exchange 2007. Before I came to the current company Exchange was setup and the MAC's could use Exchange via Entourage. They started a new Exchange server on a virtual machine, migrating the users from the old Exchange server. However the MAC users where moved back to the old server because they can only connect to the new server using IMAP/POP. We have checked and rechecked the settings comparing the 2 Exchange setups. Is this a security setting or are we missing something? Have been looking at a lot of different forums and tried everything listed. Can anybody assist us? Guide in setting up Exchange 2007 for MAC environment or specific settings/security policies that we can double check.

Will try and see if it makes a difference. As said above it worked without any updates, but we'll give it a try. Thanks.

You say they are migrating the users from the old Exchange server to the new one. Guess this means from an old forest to a new forest. Is that right? If so, does the new Exchange organization / forest use the same SMTP address as the old one? If so, you might have a problem with Autodiscover. Entourage uses the external Autodiscover service, not an internal service connection point. The certificate also needs to be valid. If it is not in the Mac Keychain Access application, you have to import it. The Autodiscover service silently rejects certificate mismatches. The Entourage 2008 Mac, Web Services Edition (latest 10.0.3) provides extensive logging capabilities. Here you'll find relative complete documentation:http://www.microsoft.com/mac/itpros/default.mspxBut you should not need it, provided external Autodiscover is configured correctly and there are no issues with certificates. What about the Mac Mail app on Snow Leopard? It uses external Autodiscover as well. Does this work? Also, if you are using EWS (Entourage v. 13.+) Exchange needs to be at SP 1 Rollup 4 to support this.

New one is a virtual Exchnage server on our cluster while the old one is a physical machine which also hosts DHCP at the moment.

Then it's not a migration as stated above, but a mailbox move. Entourage communicates with the Client Access Server. This server should keep track of where the mailboxes are located. Most likely the problem is not with Entourage, but with your Exchange configuration. Anyhow, you have the option to turn on logging, as described here, for all or just individual features. This should give you a much better idea on what is going on: Autodiscover serviceExchange (folder and item synchronization) Exchange Calendar LDAP transactions between Entourage and Microsoft Exchange Server http://www.microsoft.com/mac/itpros/default.mspx?clr=99-15-0&srcid=00259738-e5cd-43a8-89cb-d3fc123b8b3b1033&ep=9&target=cc82d660-9a9b-41ab-ab1c-b5c5db85e5601033 MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist

I do always install and recommend Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac, Web Services Edition. Forgot about one important step with the WebDAV-based client (if you still prefer to use that one). By default WevDAV is not enabled on Exchange 2007 Client Access Servers:Accessing Exchange 2007 from your Apple Macintosh (Part 2)http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/mobility-client-access/accessing-exchange-2007-apple-macintosh-part-2.htmlMCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist
