Enterprise Server 2003 Unexpected Shutdown
My Enterprise 2003 server has been shutting down unexpectedly every other day or so. The error in the eventlog is: Error code 000000d1, parameter1 00000003, parameter2 d0000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 f7b1c75a. I have searched throughout the internet for help on this code and have found nothing. Can someone help me shed some light on this? Thank you.

I don't recognize the crash dump error, but almost always bluescreens are hardware/device driver related. 1) Make a good backup of your data and configuration 2) Update to the latest service packs and fixes 3) Contact your server vendor and get firmware / FLASHBIOS updates for your server 4) Contact your server vendor about updated hardware drivers for your server (For example, Dell has a Server Update Utility that does that) 5) Update any other device drivers for additional hardware 6) Switch to a standard SVGA device driver for video rather than whatever graphics card you are using 7) Make sure that the server only has 4GB of RAM or less in it and that the /3GB and /USERVA=3030 switches are in the BOOT.INI file (if the server has 1GB to 4GB of RAM) 8) Run the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer on the server. If these things don't fix it or help you track the problem down, you probably need to call Microsoft PSS.

Thanks for the advice. I'll get started. The problem is actually getting worse. The server is locking up now instead of spontaneously restarting.
