Emails are being delivered hours and days late
I need some advise on how to go about troubleshooting this problem. I have a user sending emails at a certain time but they are not getting to the internal recipient until hours/days later. Exchanage 2003 Server Windows XP workstations Outlook 2007 clients If I check the senders sent items it says sent on June 2nd 9:00am. Reciever got it June 8th at 6:06am. I checked message tracking on the exchange server and it doesnt even show up until June 8th 6:06am. So the question is what happened to the email between the users pc and the exchange server? We have 4 sites all connected via dedicated VPN links. Each site has its own @xxxxxxx. The user sending the email is at a different site than the person recieving it.

Hi, First please refer to the below KB and apply the hotfix to see whether the issue persist. Delivery of e-mail messages is delayed unexpectedly in Exchange Server 2003 SP2 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913664/en-us It takes longer than expected for recipients to receive an e-mail message in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902345/en-us If these do not help, then lets try to use Queue Viewer to find where do the emails stick in. Please post the result here. Besides, I suspect that VPN link will affect the email delivery. So you can use Network Microsoft Network Monitor 3.1 to check whether theres any network issue there. How to use Queue Viewer to troubleshoot mail flow issues in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823489/en-us Microsoft Network Monitor 3.1 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=18b1d59d-f4d8-4213-8d17-2f6dde7d7aac&DisplayLang=en Hope it helps.
