Email window moves into background when using a network printer

Hi,

we have the following problem:

Whenever a user has an email opend in a seperate window and tries to print via File -> Print, the window moves behind the main outlook window and has to be brought back to the front manually. (We are using Outlook 2013 and Windows7)

- Ths seems to be an issue with network printers only (we have no local printers to test on, but pdf creators etc... work fine)

- The issue affects all users

- Starting Outlook in safe mode didn't help

- Disabling all Outlook plugins didn't help

Aynone got an idea what might be the issue?

Best regards

Frank

Hi,

Usually this kind of issue is related to add-ins, since the issue persists in Outlook Safe Mode, we may eliminate it.

Based on the description, this issue seems to only occur to the network printer, I'm not sure how this interferences with Outlook, it should be related. Maybe we can find something from the event logs:

Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter.

Browse to Windows Logs -> Application, check if anything related to this issue can be found. You can send the related information to our email address:

Hi,

We've tested this in our lab, this issue was not reproduced, so I think we need to collect the Process Monitor logs to check/analyze which is really affecting the email window.

Per my view, both the OS and Office should be involved in the logs analysis, as this is not a pure Office issue, so an email/phone ticket is required as we need to go to log analysis in the next troubleshooting stage.

Hi,

thanks for trying to reproduce the error. I agree that ths seems to be an issue that is not only caused by office.

What would be needed to open an email/phone ticket?

Best regards
