Email problems
We had a request from the boss to remove an old user whose login was "abc". So, we removed the user from AD along with his mailbox in Exchange 2007. He then asked us to create a new user for a new employee using the same login. So, we did and then created a new user mailbox with "abc" as the users credentials for the mailbox. The new user can login with "abc" but after we created his mailbox, he is unable to send/receive emails. Wonder if it has anything to do with the the credentials previously used by the old user that are now being used by the new user. Could that be it?

For what reason is this person unable to send or receive messages? --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

I get the following NDR An error occurred while trying to deliver this message to the recipient's e-mail address. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator. The following organization rejected your message: [64.70.94.xxx]

Is that your Exchange server, your smart host, or the destination server? That's also the NDR he gets when he sends . . . what does the person in the other system receive when they try to send to him? Was that the whole rejection reason or was there more after the IP address? --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

that was it...nothing else. Also, no one can send to the him, either....not even internally. The IP address is unknown to me. I am not familiar with that IP address but I'm new here so I'll need to check it out. When I send to the new user from an external email account, I get this: Remote host said: 550 5.1.1 Bad destination mailbox address . [RCPT_TO]

Apparently not since the last one you posted said "The following organization rejected your message: [64.70.94.xxx] ". >The IP address is unknown to me. It's unknown to everyone since you munged last octet. Here's the SOA for the in-addr.arpa zone: Query for 1.94.70.64.in-addr.arpa type=255 class=1 94.70.64.in-addr.arpa SOA (Zone of Authority) Primary NS: dns01.savvis.net Responsible person: dns@savvis.net serial:2010060801 refresh:10800s (3 hours) retry:3600s (60 minutes) expire:604800s (7 days) minimum-ttl:3600s (60 minutes) >I am not familiar with that IP address but I'm new here so I'll need to check it out. [RCPT_TO] And you see the connection in your server's SMTP receive protocol log? And the RCPT TO address is correct? How about divulging the e-mail address in question? You can munge it as long as it's understandable by a human being. For example: e m a i l -at- a b c p e r i o d com --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
