Email notification by text or alternate email address?

For users who don't or can't have activesync access their Exchange mailbox, is  there any way to send notification to a user that a new email was sent to their mailbox?  Maybe forward a notification (not the entire message contents, just sender and subject) to an outside email address?

The only forwarding option I have seen is forwarding the entire message and we cannot allow that.

You can enable text message notifications, as described here: https://support.office.com/client/Text-messaging-4154bd15-4f2b-4854-8297-1ae55649f158

Or a 3rd party SMS gateway.

Hi,

You can turn on text messaging notification in OWA to receive message notification, but the premise is that you can logon OWA. If you don't have access to OWA, you can create a transport rule to forward the messages you received to another user's mailbox, and then set up his/her OWA to send text messages to your mobile device.

Hope my clarification can be helpful to you.

Best regards,
