We have MS Exchange 2007, Windows 2003 R2 Ent edition, outlook 2007. Scenario: i will give you an example: let us suppose that i receive an email with attachment in June 2011, now when i refer this email today there is no attachment. refer means that i see it again for some reference.

Attachments arent removed from messages unless the user does it or you have some process or 3rd party product stripping it ( Archiving, anti-virus etc...)

Ok, just to introduce more things here, we are using Symantec Enterprise Vault as archiving, McAfee as AV. So you are suggesting that this could be the cause. Do you have any examples about it.

Agree. I vote for Symantec Enterprise Vault or McAffe has done something. EV usually leave shortcut/stub/placeholder instead of the attachment, but this can be changed in EV configuration by admin. lasse at humandata dot se, http://anewmessagehasarrived.blogspot.com

Hi Muhammad, For this issue, I suggest you forward the email to another mailbox (External), then check whether you can see the attachment in that mailbox or not? If you cannot see the attachment, please follow Lasse and Jonas’s suggestion to check for Symantec Enterprise Vault and McAffe. Thanks, Evan
