Email campaign crashes mail server
Hello, I built an application that sends out a lot of email as part of an ad campaign. At the 120k mark, the mail server shut down. Does anyone have an idea why the server would automatically shut down? Is there any way I can increase the load of email the server can handle? Thanks, Peter

If you are using Exchange, then you are using the wrong tool. Exchange is a very poor bulk email application. It isn't designed to do this kind of job. Your best option is to use a bulk emailing tool or a service that can handle the load for you. Exchange isn't good at doing so. Almost certainly the problem is down to disk space. There are no issues with high numbers of emails going through the server, other than the server processing them. However using Exchange for a bulk emailing run is like taking a Ferrari to the shops for the weekly food shop for a family of four. Yes you can do it, but it isn't the most appropriate tool for the job. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.
