Email auto-duplicating in Deleted Items upon deleting in Outlook 2003 (Exchange 2003, BES)
Hello,I have a user using Outlook 2003, on Exchange 2003 and using a BlackBerry on a BES.In Outlook, after reading and deleting an email, it shows up inhis deleteditems twice. One as read and one as unread. He's using the X button to delete, it shows up duplicated in his Outlook Deleted Items immediately, it deletes off ofhis BlackBerry (after a while), and it's only a problem with some emails - not all.It wouldn't be a huge issue, except that he thinks he must have deleted something accidentally or something - but it's a duplicate that's showing up as unread. This only seems to have started since he got a BlackBerry, but of our 20 some users with the same setup, this is the only report I have of this.Did some searching, this looks like a similar issue: http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.html?forumID=101&threadID=221983&start=0However, we're not running AVG on either the Exchange Server or the workstation. (It is however running on the MDaemon mail server.)He's also not "Shift Deleting" items - as seen here: http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-23-0.html?forumID=101&threadID=253384&messageID=2421711I couldn't find anything on TechNet about this.Any suggestions are appreciated!Ben in CA

Hi Ben, Based on my research, the BlackBerry may cause the kind of issue. Therefore, if we can stop using Blackberry for this user during testing, it will be easier for us to narrow down the issue. In addition, I suggest you attempt the following method to troubleshoot the issue: 1. Have Outlook client works in Online Mode 2. Disable third-party add-ins of Outlook client: ========================= a. Launch Outlook application.b. Click Tools --> Options, click Other tab.c. Click Advanced Options.d. Click COM Add-Ins button.e. Uncheck All Add-ins. Backup these registry entries and then delete them one by one. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\AddinsHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Extensions HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Addins After that, please use Process Explorer to check whether any third-party add-in still exists: 1) Download Process Explorer from the following site: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/Utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx 2) Launch Outlook application. 3) Run Process Explorer as administrator, accepted license. 4) Locate to outlook.exe, and select Outlook.exe, click view --> Lower Pane View --> DLLS, and then click Company Name to sort by company name. 6) Check if there are third-party companys add-ins. 3. Please let me know whether the issue can be reproduced in OWA Mike

Hi,Thanks for the suggestions. How would you suggest removing the BlackBerry from the picture with minimal extra configuration? If it's required to solve the problem, I don't object to wiping and reloading/activatingthe BlackBerry - have you seen this same issue, and it was fixed by doing that?(Everything with BB takes a while - and I don't want to risk messing something else up to fix one thing if there's still a good chance it won't be fixed.)Sincerely,Ben in CA

Hello Ben,I agree with you... and really no one will mess up with something else to resolve something... But we need to isolate the issue here.Okey lets do this way.. how about disconnecting the user who having issue and also connected to BB from his mailboxand connect to a user account who is not using BB and check.???We are here not poiting to any third-party here, I agree with ismail also and it happens sometime when you have CDO connected to mailbox.Arun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Thanks for the suggestions. It appears this issue resolved itself - I'm not sure what caused or solved it.(The user didn't want me to do anything drastic to solve the problem, as it wasn't a huge problem to begin with, and could be managed with as long as it wasn't doing other odd things or loosing data.)Thanks for the help!Ben in CA
