Email alert to SMS...
Folks,I am monitoring all my exchange servers 2007 using SCOM tool. Say for example, If any exchange service stops it will trigger an email alert to my inbox. But I would like to get the email alert as SMS in my mobile. Does any service providers in INDIA will able to do this service or any free tool is available to utilize the same?I checked with AIRTEL, but they said now this facility is not available.Note: I don't have Blackberry device. I am using Outlook 2003.ThanksFunnyghost

Hello-This can be done you just need to know your SMS gateway for your service provider. Then you'll just set it up to email to your specific address which will go to your SMS gateway and be delivered to you as a SMS message. Unfortunately I don't know your specific location and provider. Here is a link to a list SMS gateways by country. It lists India and AIRTELL settings http://www.mutube.com/projects/open-email-to-sms/gateway-list/. Michael

You might also check with your carrier to see if your phone's SMS client has an e-mail address. For example, in the US on T-Mobile, if my phone's number was (808) 555-1234, then I can send an e-mail to the phone at 8085551234@tmo.com (or something like that) and it will arrive on my phone as an SMS. You could create a contact in your GAL with that e-mail address and just send e-mails to it. Jim McBee - Blog - http://mostlyexchange.blogspot.com

Jim is correct. We use the provider specific email addresses to get email alerts via SMS on our phones. Most of the providers have a specific "n@myprovider" email address where n=your phone number. The link I gave lists most of the email addresses by provider.Michael

I meant to say, also, thanks for the link. I did not know where to find a comprehensive list. I looked at it after I posted and it was very useful. I usually think of"gateway" as something that you put on your own server rather than something the carrier provides. Very good answer, thanks!Jim McBee - Blog - http://mostlyexchange.blogspot.com

Hi, I used SMSCMD, downloaded from cnet http://download.cnet.com/SMSCMD/3000-10440_4-10411292.html?tag=mncol;3 It is simple, just unzip and run. No installation required. Syntax : smscmd "sms text" "phone1,phone2,phone3"
