Email address blocked

Hi,

Running on Exchange 2013.

So I ran into a strange problem the other day.  We have an email enabled security group that has been around since the beginning of time.  Its our network admins group.  Recently we noticed that it is unable to receive external emails (reports, weekly updates etc), internal everything is fine.   I made sure everything is enabled on the exchange side to allow for receiving externally, no luck.  I then gave this group another email address and everything worked just fine.  I then added the problematic email address to my account and no luck.  I cant receive email based on this email address.  I took a look at our journaling and no reference of this email address exists.  I did a trace on the email and nothing.  Also, my from Gmail account I don't receive any kind of NDR.  Anyone have any ideas why a particular email address would be blocked from the system??  Or how???

TIA

You need to trace using SMTP protocol logs. Do you have anything between Exchange and the internet like a SMTP gateway/ anti-spam system etc..?

If you know someone in another org, have them send a message to that email address and then check their SMTP logs to see what happened to it and follow from there.

Hi Andy,

We do have a SMTP gateway but it is showing that the email has been passed to our exchange server.  I will look at the SMTP protocol logs.

Hi Allen,

Here is a screen shot from the message trace on the gateway:

After that I have zero idea where it is going as my exchange server has no record of it being received!

Hi Andy,

I took a look at the SMTP protocol logs and nothing.  That particular email address is not being received by our exchange server.  I have confirmation that it is leaving our gateway server but then disappears.  Any thoughts?

Hi,

Please check the next hop before mail flow stop, also combine the results by message tracking log.

If it possible, please post relevant message without sensitive information for further troubleshooting.

Hi,

Please run below command in Exchange server to search log:

Get-MessageTrackingLog -resultsize unlimited -Start "8/3/2015 12:29:00 PM" -End "8/4/2015 12:39:00 PM" |where {$_.MessageSubject -like "xxxx"} >> "D:\opoutput.txt"
