Email Messages corrupt after sending from Outlook 2013 to Hotmail receipent.

Dear All,

I have a email issue with one of our customers.

When they send a new, or reply email, and this is not all the time, sometimes the message will corrupt or adds strange symbols instead of spaces. Like the tekst below. I think it is only happening to hotmail.com adresses.

We use Outlook 2013 on a Server 2012 Std terminal.

I hope you guys can point me in the right direction.

Hi,

All spaces you typed were changed to the strange symbols after sending, correct?

Does this issue happen on the sender side or the recipient side?

Have you checked the emails in Sent Items folder on the sender side?

If this issue happens on the recipient side, may I know what mail client the recipient is using? Does it show the strange symbols if we view the email from webmail interface?

Would you please clarify above questions so that we can understand the issue more clearly? Meanwhile, we have a forum article which described the unreadable emails issue, please have a look at it and check if it helps:

Hi Steve,

Here are the answers to your questions below.

All spaces you typed were changed to the strange symbols after sending, correct?
Thats correct.

Does this issue happen on the sender side or the recipient side? This happens on de recipient side.

Have you checked the emails in Sent Items folder on the sender side?
When i check de sent items folder the emails are ok.

If this issue happens on the recipient side, may I know what mail client the recipient is using? Does it show the strange symbols if we view the email from webmail interface?
I had two people using Hotmail/outlook.com email. The other email client i asked was Office Outlook.

The strangest thing is that maybe 3 out of 100 emails are corrupted. At first i tought it was a recipient issue, but users kept reporting them in.

I tried a few things myself, changed the way the email was send, plain text RTF, that didnt help. All email is send without encoding.

I had two people using Hotmail/outlook.com email. The other email client i asked was Office Outlook.

So this issue happens randomly, regardless of what mail client the recipient is using, am I correct?

For these corrupted messages, if we forward them to another email account rather than a Hotmail account, will the strange symbols disappear in the Inbox of another email account?

From the description, this issue seems happen with certain Hotmail recipients. Do these recipients use any antivirus software on their computer? Antivirus software may scan your incoming and outgoing emails which may cause unexpected issues. Please try temporarily disable the antivirus software and then check if this issue persists.
