Hi Is XYZ.com included in an email address policy? If so you need to remove it from there and then remove the domain from your accepted domains list. See this article and the links in it for more information: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124423(v=exchg.80).aspx If you want these users to still appear in your GAL then you can create contacts for them after you have done this. What is the exchange server versions? Like steve asked....Why do you've additonal abc alias for xyz domain user's mailbox ? is there any merger or acquisition scenario if yes...Is there any smtp namespace sharing happening? Since abc and xyz are two physically separate domain(am I correct?)....Check if abc.com mailbox users also have alias(user@xyz.com ) added(since you're getting the error while creating the contact) to their mailbox if yes...then Why do you need to set the forwarding ..basically everyone is receiving emails in both of their addresses ? Please explain in detail how these two exchange org are set up and communicating please? Regards, Pushkal MishrA

thnak you for ur reply Xyz domain users need to use thire own domain name @xyz.com because thay are another branch. the current scenario is that xyz is getting domain separation with a trust relation ship still need to be configured. I think after remeving the adderess policy it shuold go back to the original automatically @abc.com (is this correct)? Thnaks Ayman

If you don't have XYZ.com as and accepted domain and the MX record is pointed to another server then you shouldn't need to make any changes to DNS for mail to be delivered correctly. You might need to also change DNS records for OWA or autodiscover if you have those.

Thnaks All I have removed it from accepted domain and also removed the address policy that creates the xyz.com. but unfortunatly the removing address policy didnot remove the smtp address , I looked for that it seems i have to find a script or use admodify.net Thnaks Ayman
